First General Meeting!

Preparing for the Fall Semester

Hope everyone had a great summer!

As the school semester is now rapidly approaching we are planning out events for the semester. More info will be available soon.

We are also planning to have our First General Meeting on September 16th, 2010. We will also be posting up the schedules for SIG-Games and SIG-Robotics shortly, both on the calendar and Orgsync.

If anybody has any plans or ideas for the club, please let us know. Otherwise, welcome back and get ready for a new semester.

ACM SIG-Games Presentation

The ACM SIG-Games group will have our very own PhD student, Frank Hernandez, give a presentation on a project he has been developing for the past several months. His project is a program that is suppose to simplify the coding aspect of game development by using a simple IDE interface and auto generating code in C# with the XNA framework. Up until now, his project has been top secret and he will be revealing it in his presentation on Monday March 29, Room ECS 235 at 4:00pm.

On February 27th we will be going to the Renaissance Festival. Please sign the spreadsheet if you would like to go. If we get 20 people to go it will cost $15 per ticket. You have till the 21th to sign up.

ACM General Meeting February 11th

ACM will be having it's second general meeting for the semester.
This Thursday February 11th, 2010 at 3:30pm in the ACM room ECS 280.
Everyone is welcome to attend.

Some items we plan to discuss:

* Update on all the SIGs

* iPhone development workshop with Carlos M Icaza

* Summo Bot Competition hosted by UPE

* Projects to present at the Engineering Expo

* Ideas for future tutorials (arduino, learn by taking stuff apart, or anything someone is interested in learning)

* CSO points

* Ideas for any social events

Town Hall on Feb. 4

On Thursday, February 4 at 3:30 there will be a town hall meeting with Director Navlakha & Associate Director Weiss. This town hall will act as a Q & A session for students with the Computer Science department's heads. This is a great opportunity to find out what's going on in the c.s. department and I hope you can attend.

Also, ACM, UPE, PLUG have created a facebook page where people can submit questions for Director Navlakha & Associate Director Weiss ahead of time. Please join the page and leave a question.
