First, find out what helps you wake up in the morning. What are your passions.
What are you interests. Think about these for a moment. Do you like robotics?
Phone application development? Game development? Community service/ outreach?
Teaching/ tutoring? Finding a good job? Once you know yourself, join some a club
or event based off of those interests. ACM has many different workshops and
projects each semester. If ACM doesn't have what you are looking for, there are
other computer-related clubs. On the links section on the left-hand side are
other SCIS clubs: PLUG
(Panther Linux User Group), UPE (Upsilon Pi Epsilon),
STARS Alliance,
to name a few. Click the links and see what they are about.
But most importantly, get involved! Don't just come to general meetings. Join
a workshop or SIG! A club is a team effort. It is for the people and by the
people, but the people have to be willing to dedicate their time and ideas.
