About
Currently, I am a Ph.D. student at the School of Computing and Information Sciences in Florida International
University, the State University of Florida at Miami. My advisor is Dr. Shu-ching Chen and other members of my dissertation committee are Dr. Jainendra K. Navlakha, Dr. Xudong He, Dr. Mei-Ling Shyu and Dr. Keqi Zhang. In November 2008, I defended my dissertstion proposal titled "A Generalized Multidimensional Index Structure to Support Content-based Similarity Searches in a Multimedia Database Management System". In my reserch, I am interested in understanding multimedia data relationships and behaviors and develop database components to manage multimedia data in a Collaborative Search Environment. I have also investigated how the dynamic relationships among multimedia data in a collaborative search environment can help in effectively design database components like the index structure with the help of social network analysis. Broadly, my research interests include Multimedia Database Management Systems, Multimedia Data Mining, and Collaborative Multimedia Similarity Search and Retrieval.
I interned at IBM China Research Lab in Beijing during the summer of 2008 with Dr. Shixia Liu at the Smart Visual Analytics Group on Automatic Graph Layout Recommendations for Social Networks using Graph Similarity.
I am an avid book lover and spend my every spare moment reading. I also love traveling and watching varied genres of movies.
