I am a fifth year Ph.D. student at the department of Computer Science in Florida International University, Miami, Fl. My advisor is Dr. Shu-Ching Chen. My research interests include Multimedia Databases and Indexing, Investigating Multimedia Data Management in Collaborative Environment, and Multimedia Data Mining.

I did an internship at IBM Research, China Research Lab in Beijing during the summer of 2008. I worked at the Smart Visual Analytics Group with Dr. Shixia Liu on Automatic Graph Layout Recommendations for Social Networks using graph similarity and distance functions. The internship introduced me to the world of Social Network Analysis and Visualizations. It helped to provide a new direction of my research towards utilizing social network concpets in managing multimedia data in collaborative environments.

I defended my dissertation proposal, "A Generalized Multidimensional Index Structure to Support Content-Based Similarity Searches in a Multimedia Database Management System", in November 2008. I am passionate about books, travelling, trying out different adventurous sports and watching varied genres of movies.
