PGP Assignment

  1. Install PGP (latest freeware version)

  2. Run PGPkeys (you can get it from the "lock shaped" icon in your tray)

  3. Generate a key pair (DH/DSS is the default, but you can use RSA if you want)

    1. Be sure you choose a passphrase you will remember.  If you forget the passphrase, you will not be able to use your key pair or revoke it.

  4. Sign your own key, if the system allows it

  5. Submit your public key to the server ldap://keyserver.pgp.com, using the Server menu on the key/pair tab

  1. Export  your public key in .asc form (that will be printable ascii)

  2. Email your public key to kraynek@cs.fiu.edu as plaintext in the body of an email message or attached.

  3. I will reply to you with a message encrypted by your public key.

  4. Obtain my public key (the DH/DSS version) either from the key server or from  here  and add it to your keyring

  5. Send me an email encrypted with my public key and signed with your key

  6. I will reply with an email encrypted to you and signed by me.
