I am a Ph.D. student of Computer Science in Florida
Interantional University. My advisor is Prof.
Tao Li. My research interest includes data mining, machine learning
and database. I started learning computer programming from the age of 11 until now. I received the master's degree in Sichuan
University of China in 2009, and my master degree's advisor was Prof.
Changjie Tang.
From May to August in 2011, I was a research intern
at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center,
supervised by Larisa Shwartz.
From May to November in 2007, I was a SDE intern
at Microsoft Research Asia,
supervised by Lead Researcher
Min Chu. From 2003 to 2006, I was a founder and a project manager of United
Ideas Soft Co., LTD, which is a startup company invested
by Softbank for technological innovation in
2004. Here is my CV.

RESEARCH
|
|
Broadly interested in data and information analysis including data mining and machine learning techniques.
More specifically, I focus on temporal mining which is used to discover temporal relations from event data, streaming data, and time series data. I am also interested in data mining applications in automatic system management and service computing.

(Classification and Regression Tree) algorithm on a large-scale parallel computing system, and applied
it to analyze the booting time of Windows operating system to find out
the bottleneck of Windows startup. I was in charge of implementing this algorithm by using C++.
- Developed a query engine MDA ( Multidimensional
Data Access) to handle data cube queries, which was used in SQMExplorer in Microsoft.
I was in charge of the architecture design and the implementation by using C++.

Software|website
|
- USLUNCHBOX.COM
I am the lead developer of the website of Chinese food online ordering, USLUNCHBOX. It delivers decent Chinese foods for FIU students. This website is developed based on the jQuery and Java Servlet framework.
jQuery is the best open-source software I used.
- TLBasic
It implements a simple complier and runtime environment for the Basic programming language. The complier translates the Basic programs into bytecode files, and the runtime environment executes the bytecode files.
This project was written by pure C when I was a undergraduate student. It was just for fun.
All source codes can be downloaded here.
- HadoopProxy
This project is to assist normal users who are not familiar with hadoop to utilize an existing hadoop environment to run parallel jobs.
The simple idea is to make the existing hadoop enviroment be a thread pool.
The user does not need to know how to write map/reduce function or how to submit a hadoop job. The proxy is a container of threads.
The user only needs to insert his(or her) created threads into the container and invoke the execution function.
Then, the proxy will automatically send these threads to the hadoop master server and transform them into map/reduce functions.
