"To Enlighten and to Celebrate"
Welcome to the home page of Phi Alpha Theta, the history honors society at FIU. This site will provide you with relevant information on who we are and what we do.
To enlighten and to celebrate.
That is our chapter motto: "To enlighten and to celebrate". And
that's what we try to do with every
meeting and event! We want to enlighten our friends and members
with interesting and in depth knowledge from this beautiful
and varied subject which is history. We
also want to celebrate history, not just by reading it but
experiencing it fully with a vast array of events, from
historical tours and trips to enjoying
historical movies and meetings that deal with all historical
topics--from ancient to personal. It's fun and contagious.
You have to be a part of
it!
YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A MEMBER TO COME TO ANY OR ALL OF OUR
MEETINGS!! SWING BY, BE ENLIGHTENED, AND
CELEBRATE WITH US!!
"We are a professional society whose mission is to promote the
study of history through the encouragement of research, good
teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among
historians. We seek to bring students, teachers and writers of
history together for intellectual and social exchanges, which
promote and assist historical research and publication by our
members in a variety of ways."

History is a guide to navigation in perilous times. History
is who we are and why we are the way we are.
